Hearing Tests

Amy Holden, our PhD Audiologist, performs hearing exams in a soundproof booth located in our office. Based on these hearing exams, we will determine if you are in need of a hearing aid or some other treatment to improve your hearing.

Hoarseness

Hoarseness can stem from a range of causes. Smoking, excessive voice usage, laryngitis, acid reflux and allergies can all be culprits, as can larynx cancer or vocal cord damage. Dr. Crawford can determine the cause of your hoarseness and design a treatment plan to restore your voice.

Sinusitis

If you have been suffering for over two weeks from excessive yellow-green nasal discharge, post-nasal drip resulting in a sore throat, or pain and pressure in your face and upper jaws where the sinuses are located, you may have a sinus infection. If the infection is bacterial, an antibiotic is generally an effective and efficient cure. However, if you are experiencing chronic sinus troubles, surgical treatment may be necessary.

Dizziness/Vertigo

Dizziness and vertigo caused by imbalances within the inner ear. You may experience a feeling of spinning or tilting, nausea and vomiting, or the sensation that something is pulling you. These symptoms can occasionally be resolved with different head maneuvers, called the Canalith Repositioning Procedure. These movements are designed to displace the calcium crystals inside of the ear. Dr. Crawford will help you throughout this procedure to ensure the maneuvers are done in correctly and safely. Medication can also be used to resolve the nausea and vomiting associated with vertigo and to diminish the spinning sensation associated with vertigo. Dr. Amy Holden, our audiologist, also performs balance testing to more fully evaluate dizziness and vertigo.
